Information on UIL Unsportsmanlike Spectator Conduct

RISD staff, parents and community:
As a reminder- UIL rules require that all spectators demonstrate respectful, positive, and sportsmanlike conduct toward players, coaches, officials, and other fans. UIL-reported incidents across the state have emphasized the need to reinforce these expectations. In addition, our UIL District (31-A) has reported incidents of spectator ejections caused by unsportsmanlike conduct. These ejections led to suspensions including the ability to attend future UIL events. Rocksprings ISD asks for your continued partnership in modeling the sportsmanship we expect from our athletes. Let’s continue working together to ensure our events remain safe, enjoyable, and representative of RISD.
Please note the following important reminders:
Unsportsmanlike conduct by spectators—including yelling at officials, using inappropriate language, confronting coaches or players, or causing disruptions—is strictly prohibited. Doing so can also have a detrimental impact on the outcome of the game and our team.
UIL and district policy authorize the immediate removal of any spectator who engages in such behavior.
Ejections may result in additional consequences, including suspension from attending future UIL events.
Our students look to adults as examples. Positive, respectful support helps create a safe and encouraging environment for all participants.
